Massage therapy in the comfort of your own home or office

Massage therapy has been noted to relax the nervous system by slowing heart rate and blood pressure. Stress and pain hormones are also decreased by massage, reducing pain and enhancing immune function”. – Dr. Tiffany Field (head of a touch research institute at the University of Miami Medical School). Massage is an ancient healing art and is described as the manipulation, either manual or mechanical, of soft body tissue and muscles for therapeutic purposes. Various movements are performed for the purpose of promoting circulation of the blood and lymph, relaxation of muscles, relief from pain, restoration of metabolic balance and many other benefits both physically and mentally.

Touch is one of the earliest senses that we develop, one of the most vital and most natural means of relieving pain and discomfort. It can re-energise the body restoring vitality and promotes a degree of self-healing. It relaxes tired muscles, reduces pain and fatigue, helps digestion, alleviates joint problems and helps to lower the blood pressure. Massage therapists use their fingers, hands, forearms and elbows to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Variations in focus and technique lead to different types of massage, including Swedish, deep tissue and sports massage.
